Making a Course Available or Unavailable

The Blackboard course for your module must be made available before students can access it.

Near the top right corner of the pages in your course, the padlock icon shows the availability of the course to students; Clicking the padlock toggles the availability.

  • Closed padlock – the course is not currently available to enrolled students.
  • Open padlock – the course is available to enrolled students.

Older method

  1. Go to the course you want to make available
  2. In the Control Panel (at the bottom of course menu on the left-hand side)
    1. Click Customisation
    2. Click Properties
  3. Under section 3, Set Availability, select YesSet Available

Please note: Do not use the Term Availablity option as there is a known bug which will reset the availability of the module after 48 hours.
  4. Click Submit

Your course is now available to the enrolled students.

Make a course unavailable

  1. Go to the course you want to make unavailable
  2. In the Control Panel (at the bottom of course menu on the left-hand side)
