The Blackboard course for your module must be made available before students can access it.
Near the top right corner of the pages in your course, the padlock icon shows its availability to students; Clicking the padlock toggles the availability.
- Closed padlock – the course is not currently available to enrolled students.
- Open padlock – the course is available to enrolled students.
Older method
Prior to the introduction of the padlock, you had to make the course (un)available via the Control Panel.
Make the course available
- Go to the course you want to make available
- In the Control Panel (at the bottom of course menu on the left-hand side)
- Click Customisation
- Click Properties
- Under section 3, Set Availability, select Yes
- Click Submit
Your course is now available to the enrolled students.
Make a course unavailable
- Go to the course you want to make unavailable
- In the Control Panel (at the bottom of course menu on the left-hand side)
- Click Customisation
- Click Properties
- Under section 3, Set Availability, select No
- Click Submit
Your course is now unavailable to the enrolled students.
