Assignments allow you to create coursework and manage the grades and feedback for each student separately. In an assignment, you can include a description, point value, and file attachments.
You can view, comment, and grade student-submitted assignment files without leaving the Grade Assignment page. When you view a document submitted in an assignment, that document is converted to a format that is viewable inside the web browser.
The converted document is displayed in a viewer on the Grade Assignment page. Formatting and embedded images of the original document are preserved in the conversion.
Info The Digital Dropbox tool was replaced by the Assignments tool several versions of Blackboard ago. Some at Aston still refer to a ‘dropbox’ when they mean to refer to the assignments tool.
Info Other than grading there are several options for managing submission attempts. Please see Managing Submission Attempts for more information.

Self and Peer Assessment
The Self and Peer Assessment Building Block is a tool designed to facilitate the objective, analytical, and learning comprehension skills of students. Reviewing the work of fellow students through criteria-based reference evaluation allows constructive feedback. The constructive feedback that students give to and receive from their peers can enhance their comprehension of the subject material and provide valuable insights into their own efforts.
Receipts
When a student submits work to a Blackboard assignment, Blackboard will email them a confirmation.
