Why do we have My Courses AND My Organisations? Blackboard content is kept in two types of areas, courses and organisations. In functionality they are virtually identical; the only differences being the main two roles used. How they are used at Aston is very different however.
Courses are used for all taught module material. That is, any module that exists on SITS and is set up correctly will have a Blackboard course associated with it. New versions of these courses are created before the start of each academic year.
Organisations are intended to be used for programme level material or any other content that is not linked to a specific cohort or module. This prevents the need for content being replicated across courses and the obvious potential for information to get out of sync.
