Making a Course Available or Unavailable

Your module must be made available before students can access it.

As of December 2018, there is a new streamlined method of making your course available/unavailable.

In the top right-hand section of the page below the grey header, there is a new padlock icon which can be used to toggle the course availability.

Please note that the icon is only present on Content Area pages and some course tools.

Unfortunately, the icon is not present on the course announcements tool, which many of the Blackboard courses at Aston have set as their homepage.

If you are struggling to find this icon you can still use the old method shown below.

  1. Go to the course you want to make available
  2. In the Control Panel (at the bottom of course menu on the left-hand side)
    1. Click Customisation
    2. Click Properties
  3. Under section 3, Set Availability, select YesSet Available

Please note: Do not use the Term Availablity option as there is a known bug which will reset the availability of the module after 48 hours.
  4. Click Submit

Your course is now available to the enrolled students.

Make a course unavailable

  1. Go to the course you want to make unavailable
